The karate champ

Our first place winner

They have two areas they compete in. One is a routine called Kota 1 which he took third (he doesn't care as much about the Kota). The part he really likes is the fighting. There were 8 boys and Rex was called to go first against another boy. There is no contact allowed. The first boy to three points wins, and Rex scored 2 very quick points. The other boy was frustrated and after timeout was called hit Rex in the face while Rex wasn't looking! The umpires gave Rex the point and he won 3 to 0. He told me afterwords "my eyes watered a little bit, but it didn't hurt." Rex immediately had to fight again against another boy and the winner got first place and the loser got second. These two boys are evenly matched and the score was 2-2 but eventually Rex landed a kick to the other boy's stomach and down he went! Incidental contact is OK so there was no penalty. Rex finished him off after that and won first place. He was so excited you could see in his face how proud he was! ~Nate

Friends at the holidays

My really good friend Lisa has this yearly tradition of inviting her girls friends and their familys over and they do a cookie bake. This year all the moms brought a treat for the kids to make, so the kids made rice krispies dipped in chocolate, chocolate dipped oreos, cherries dipped in choc with a kiss to make a mouse, and marshmallow snowmen, topped off with snicker-doodle cookies. Talk about a sugar high! The best part is between six families all the kids have a friend and play for hour and the moms get to talk (adult conversation a rare treat these days!) we had a great time

Meg had to have a snow man doing jump rope. i think she just saw the licorice and came up with a way to at it so she could eat it later.

Advent calendar GRRRRR

So this morning at 3:30 long after we had settled our brains for a long winter nap
When out in the living room there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
AAAAHHHHH REX
in his excitement had decided to open the next door to our advent calendar! ( Kids )

So i sent him to bed and the new rule in the house is you have to be dressed for school and have your bed made before you get to open a door!!!

Christmas lights

Well with this time of year being finals for Nate we don't see much of him. So this year Rex stepped up and hung the lights for his Dad!

Santa Hat Fun

My kids are in love with santa hats. This is what Nate found when he got up in the morning on Sat. Emma and Rex playing their Ds, Meg watching. Kids decked out in Santa hats! Emma wore hers to school today. Meg ate breakfast in hers. It's very cute, and gets me all excited for the holidays.

So my life is pretty structures right now (not the way i naturally function, i tend to like life a little more spontaneous and unpredictable!). My family teases me because I don't allow much to change our schedule. What can i say it's how i survive right now. One of the first things we do when we walk in the door from school is homework at the kitchen table. So yesterday, Emma gets in the car and says to me "Mom can i do homework in my room while listening to music?"
Well she has proven herself... she is the one who gets mad at me if i have to run an errand after school, keeping her from her homework. I don't have to tell her to get stuff in her backpack, she does that. She ask me for help when she needs it. So what could i say, but YES.
I'm so proud of her.

i have an even cuter video of him walking but it won't upload.... GGGGRRRRRR

Levi walking

Notice when Meg gets the ball she says "I WIN". She is by far my most competitive child everything is a race and if she doesn't win you can expect DRAMA!

Levi took a few steps around the first of october and by the second week was walking 4 and 5 steps, but he has preferred crawling till now.

Way To Much Candy With A Sugar Overload Day !!!

We had a great Halloween this year. We went to the carnival put on by the city, then we went and visited the kids friends, They had a haunted house in their garage, then we had the Schaumann family, and Jake and Jamie over for soup and rolls, then the traditional trick or treating!

We recycled this year and the girls wore their dance costumes with wings. (ek didn't wan't to wear them on halloween) Emma is getting older, She missed the ward party because she wanted to play at friends

Rex was our ninja (thanks to his karate outfit) add some swords and he was in heaven

Meg loved her wings

Our little skeleton! Love the elf ears his hat gives him in this pic!

i know i'm nuts, costumes for their dolls, Emma was not impressed at first (she is growing up to fast!) but she came around to how cute the idea was!
